About Me

Hi, I'm Margarida and I live in beautiful Homer, Alaska. I reside and cook in an upstairs condo with my husband, Doug. We have an amazing view of Kachemak Bay and I can almost point to the exact spot where the salmon that's on my grill came from. My daughter Jackie and son- in-law Aaron and grandson Carter live downstairs and they love to cook as much as I do. We often bring new dishes up and down the stairs to each other for sampling. We also love to cook together and collaborate on meals, those are always the best. I love using seasonal, local ingredients. I feel so fortunate to have fantastic fresh fish literally in my backyard and an abundant Farmer's Market in the summer. But nothing tops off a healthy meal like a beautiful dessert...and I've never met a carb I didn't like! Baking is my true cooking passion and there's nothing sweeter than the joy on Carter's face as I pull a fragrant Rhubarb Crisp out of the oven.
Update…Jackie and Aaron and Carter have moved to their new home (luckily only a few miles away). So even though they are not right downstairs, we still love to cook and eat together as often as possible. And even more exciting, we now have another enthusiastic eater in the family! Jamison Patrick Knoll was born on October 20, 2014. He is perfect in every way and learning new things every day from big brother Carter. Those two boys make my heart happy and have inspired me to come up with new, delicious, healthy and fun meals and treats.
